Odisha bag 5 medals in Sub-jr Wushu National

A 23-member Odisha squad bagged a total of five medals in the 15th Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship, which was held at Pantajali Ashram, Haridwar, Uttarakhand from March 27 to 31. Medals included three silver and two bronze.

Krishna Khandayat (20kg), Bapi Chaterjee (28kg) and Pallavi Samal (Gunshu) won one silver medal each, while Kitmayi Munda (28kg) and Manju Munda (40kg) claimed one bronze medal each. Wushu Association of Odisha (WAO) general secretary and SAI coach Pradyumna Behera along with Sarat Das, Pankaj Mahanta and Mithun Chakraborty accompanied the state squad as officials.

According WAO press release, more than 700 competitors participated in the championship. Haryana, Delhi and UP emerged champions in sanshou category, while Manipur, Delhi and MP bagged the top honour in taolu category. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev inaugurated the championship, while
Mahamandaleswar Shree Chidanandeswar Maharaj ji presented the trophies in the closing ceremony.
